University of Michigan REU Site in Chemistry
No funding – program on hiatus
Fellowship (as proposed)
$7000 stipend + Housing + $800 Food Allowance + Travel (pending funding approval)
Eligibility
University of Michigan students are not eligible for REU funding
only US citizens and permanent residents can receive NSF funding
Notices – Please Read BEFORE you apply
- REU funding can only be used for US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card holders). Unfortunately, we cannot provide support for International students.
- When you are ready to apply (below), you will be asked for the information that you see on this REU Application Sample (Do not fill out this pdf! it is just to show you what is at the application link.)
- The dates of the program are fixed by the end date because the housing cannot be extended as our school year begins. You should be available to begin the program if and when funding resumes. Sometimes you might have a few exams left to go in your term, particularly if you are on a quarter system. This is okay. We have helped administer and proctor exams for REU students whose terms overlapped the program a bit. Check with your instructors about the option of us proctoring your exam – we have never had anyone whose faculty were not cooperative.
- If you receive an offer from us, and you accept, you should plan to honor that commitment. It is simply unfair to accept a position with the intent of turning it down, later.
- Students should ensure that their health insurance coverage extends through their participation in the summer research program.
- NOTE ON THE APPLICATION: At the end of the application, you will enter the names and email addresses for two recommenders. When you enter their names, you will have the option to send those letter requests immediately (or edit the contact info, or delete it) while you complete your application. If you do not manually send the letter requests, they will go out automatically when you submit your application and the “check-box” next to the word “sent” will appear.
