What are the grade restrictions?
Applicant must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior in high school, meaning that they must have completed at least one year of high school and cannot have graduated prior to the program starting.
Are there pre-requisites for the courses?
Although extensive knowledge in the chosen subject is not required for most courses, students should select the courses that are most suited to their individual interest to have the best experience. Please see specific course descriptions for any prerequisite knowledge.
Do I have to be a United States Citizen?
No, we encourage applicants from all over the world to apply for MMSS! A global experience is one of our goals. We are excited to bring the MMSS experience to students of all backgrounds.
What items will I need to submit for my application?
For an application to be considered, students will need to submit the following: (AN APPLICATION WILL NOT BE REVIEWED UNTIL ALL MATERIALS ARE SUBMITTED):
- Copy of current transcript (unofficial transcript or grade report are acceptable)
- Letter of recommendation (please acquire email address of recommender. An email will sent to the recommender with instructions for submitting the letter.)
- A personal statement (to be submitted as part of the application). You should include courses you have taken, external influences, computer experience, and research interests that draw you to this program. Please include any other relevant information to help us evaluate your application.
- $100 Application Fee: This fee is non-refundable. It is also not applied toward your account balance if admitted to the program. (As of April 10, 2024, the application fee will only be charged if the applicant is offered admission!)
Do you need to know my GPA? How about my SAT/ACT score?
Students will need to submit a current high school transcript or grade report. Neither GPA nor ACT/SAT scores are required to apply to MMSS.
If I apply earlier, will I have a better chance of getting in?
Because admission to MMSS is on a rolling basis we will continue to accept suitable candidates to the program until courses are filled. Although submitting your application early will have an impact on the course selection, it does not guarantee admission to the program.
How much will it cost? Is there financial aid available?
The cost of the MMSS camp is dependent on the preference of a Commuter Student or Residential Student. Tuition cost is the same for all students. Residential fees are additional. For more information regarding cost, click here to see the breakdown, or here for financial aid information.
