Call for Manuscripts – Michigan Quarterly Review

Call for Manuscripts

The deadline for submissions was February 15, 2013.  We are not accepting any more submissions for this issue.

For a special issue on translation—in the broadest sense of the word—we welcome stories, poems, and essays that either exemplify translation as practice or meditate on translation as phenomenon. “Translation” for our purposes can mean relocating meaning from one language to another, and we are certainly open to looking at translations of poetry and prose from any number of languages—the more the better—into English, but it can also mean relocating meaning from one experiential or disciplinary source to another, like the expression of algebraic formulas in elegant literary prose (or vice versa).

Please send a copy of source texts in original languages in the case of direct translations. All work should be submitted in hard copy (with a self-addressed, stamped envelope) to Michigan Quarterly Review, attn: Translation Issue, 0576 Rackham Bldg., 915 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1070. If you are out of the US and mail service is poor where you are, you may e-mail the Managing Editor (mqr@umich.edu) to request permission to submit electronically.
