I was in graduate school during 1978-82 at UW-Madison. In 1981, two local boys, artist Steve Rude and writer Mike Baron, created Nexus. This independent comic was a big deal around the local comics watering hole Capital City Comics.
Rude channels the 1960s Marvel sensibility and style, so he is a terrific match for drawing their heroes.

Fantastic stuff! Stumbled on to this while searching for coloring pages for my 5 yr old. Beautiful work. I lived across the hall from a gent who painted in the colors for Marvel. He worked out of his home and I often went into his office and took a peek. It was pretty awe-inspiring. These artists are so dedicated and disciplined; more so than many painters I have met due to my work in the sector, in fact.
