Seed money for new project obtained!

Happy to announce that we were successful in acquiring some seed money from the MCubed Program at the University of Michigan! This is a really neat program that provides seed funding for interdisciplinary projects among faculty at UM. Our project is a collaboration between Karl Jepsen (Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery)  and Cody Thompson (UM Museum of Zoology) and myself.

Our project focuses on identifying how there have been major changes in bone density in humans over the past century. We will use a comparative approach to look at whether these changes are occurring in other animals and also try and identify some of the environmental drivers of these changes in bone density. I’m really excited about this project and how it enables me to work with others in different disciplines! See project description here.
