Queries can be further customized using AND/OR (Boolean) logic. The first example below demonstrates use of AND. The second example below demonstrates use of OR.
Example1. AND Logic
Every time a filter is added to a search, it functions as an AND. The example on the right shows that the query is looking for patients with a diabetes diagnosis and COVID diagnosis who visited the Emergency Department during 2020.
Example 2. OR Logic
To search for patients that have a diabetes OR COVID diagnosis who visited the ED during 2020, the COVID and Diabetes must be included in the same filter, as seen on the example to the left.
