- After connecting to the Michigan Medicine VPN (required for PHI) or the UM VPN, go to datadirect.umich.edu to login. Enter your uniqname.
Michigan Medicine affiliated researchers should login with their Level-2 password if they are presented with the option of Level-1 or Level-2 login.
Researchers who do not have a Level-2 password will be presented with only the Level-1 login. Read more about Level-1 and Level-2 logins.
2. Once you are logged in, you will be presented with menu options (or a variation, depending level of access) listed below. Note: You will only see the Michigan Medicine DataDirect (PHI) option if you are approved to use PHI.
- Use Create a New Query for assistance identifying the appropriate version of DataDirect to use for your research.
- Use Open an Existing Query if you have saved queries in DataDirect that you would like to reuse.
- Use Michigan Medicine DataDirect (PHI) if your research requires patient identifiers and you have completed the access requirements.
- Use Precision Health DataDirect (DeID) if your research does not require patient identifiers and you have completed the access requirements.
