1. After connecting to the Michigan Medicine VPN (required for PHI) or the UM VPN, go to datadirect.umich.edu to login. Enter your uniqname and Level-1 password.
2. Once you are logged in, you will be presented with two menu options: Start a New Query Using Deidentified DataDirect or Open one of my Existing Deidentified DataDirect Queries. If your research requires Protected Health Information (PHI) select the link on the bottom of the page and you will be prompted to login with your Level-2 password.
3. If you have selected to use PHI, you will be presented with the following screen. Login with your Level-2 password and use the checkbox to agree with the statement regarding use of data containing PHI. Select the Submit button.
2. Once you are logged in, you will be presented with two menu options: Start a New Query Using PHI DataDirect or Open one of my Existing PHI DataDirect Queries.
