On April 5, 2019 the Department of Comparative Literature was pleased to host a book launch with Frieda Ekotto and Corine Tachtiris for Don’t Whistper Too Much (Rutgers 2019),  the English translation of Ekotto’s novel Chuchote pas trop.

In her translator’s introduction, Tachtiris notes it is “widely considered to be the first Francophone African Novel to represent same-sex relationships in a positive light.”  

Frieda Ekotto is Professor of Afroamerican and African Studies and Comparative Literature at UM, and Corine Tachtiris (UM Comp Lit Phd, 2012) is Assistant Professor at U-Mass Amherst.
