Thoughts from UM Math PhD Roman Gayduk

Roman Gayduk, 2017 PhD, reached out with an interesting update. After finishing his degree, Roman worked as a Quant for five years, but is now transitioning to a career in Psychotherapy. He’s shared some thoughts on the PhD process and careers in his blog, How I see It.

I found Roman’s personal perspective and thoughts about why students pursue PhDs enlightening, especially his thoughts on the special pressures immigrants to the US often feel. I hadn’t thought about things quite this way before. Take a look: How I see It.

Roman is now doing some career coaching for STEM PhDs looking to transition out of academics. You’ll find him on Linked In. Let me know if you’d like an introduction.
