Evan Binkley, member of Collaboratory team, named Marshall Scholar, 2020

LSA’s Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships (ONSF) has announced that Evan Binkley has won a Marshall Scholarship for 2020.

Evan, who is an Honors History of Art major and Museum Studies minor, has been a member of the Collaboratory’s Making African Art project grant team since its inception, working with principal investigators Ray Silverman, Professor of the History of Art/Afroamerican and African Studies, and Laura De Becker, Helmut and Candis Stem Curator of African Art at the Museum of Art.

The competitive scholarships—awarded annually to up to 50 students—enable outstanding young American scholars to pursue graduate level studies in the United Kingdom.

According to the ONSF announcement, “Evan will attend the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and earn his Master’s Degree in Museums, Heritage and Material Culture Studies. For his second year, Evan will complete the African Studies Master’s degree, also at SOAS.”
