COLLABORATORY AWARDS DISSEMINATION GRANTS

The Humanities Collaboratory is pleased to announce Dissemination Grants to two project teams: Documenting Criminalization and Confinement and Expanding the Reach of the Global Feminisms Oral History Archive.

Both teams launched Collaboratory Project Grants in 2019 informed by earlier phases of development and both have worked on dissemination already, particularly through their robust online presence. Project Grant teams are eligible to apply for up to $25K to disseminate research outcomes during the final year of their Project Grant.

Documenting Criminalization and Confinement (DCC) will enhance efforts to share their project resources with target audiences. The team plans to develop high school curriculum guides and host a workshop to seek feedback and collaboration from teachers; to distribute DVDs to Michigan prisons of their video series Living on Loss of Privilege; and to adapt their Immigration Court Guides with more language translations and edits required for nationwide reach.

Congratulations to the entire DCC team and partners who were also awarded a major grant from the LSA Meet the Moment Research Initiative this summer. Titled “Confronting the Carceral State,” their continuing collaborative work will receive $2 million over the next five years.

Broad accessibility and teaching resources will be bolstered through the Dissemination Grant to Expanding the Reach of the Global Feminisms Project (GFP).

The team plans to develop an e-newsletter, social media outreach, and website translations to encourage international access to the GFP oral histories. They will improve lesson plans and create new ones, release podcasts on teaching, expand their media platforms, and continue collaborative publication work. A webinar aimed at the global “Long COVID” community will also connect GFP resources to those interested in social issues associated with health.

These summaries only hint at the impacts that these teams will make through their Dissemination Grants this academic year. The Humanities Collaboratory applauds the teamwork of these dynamic projects and their goals to reach new audiences with their research.
