  • Latinx Wikipedia Edit-a-thon Thursday, November 7, 2019.   Join us for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to Latinx communities and to recognize the accomplishments of Latinx folx. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, in-person assistance, reference materials, and refreshments. Bring your laptop, power cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. People of all backgrounds are invited to participate.
  • LGBTQ+ Healthy and Safety Abroad Monday, November 11, 2019 5:00-6:00 PM, Hatcher Graduate Library, Gallery. If you identify as LGBTQ and are thinking about studying or traveling abroad, check out this event on addressing health and safety concerns specific to those across the LGBTQ spectrum. Topics include important considerations when choosing an abroad destination, support services available, trans-specific considerations, and others.
  • Introduction to Zotero Thursday, November 14, 2019 1:00-3:00 PM.  206 Hatcher Graduate Library. Need help organizing and managing your research citations and PDFs? We’ll cover the basics of creating and managing a personal bibliographic database using Zotero, including importing citations from online resources and generating formatted bibliographies. In addition, we’ll learn how Zotero integrates with Microsoft Word and learn about using the collaborative features in Zotero too. 
  • Copyright and Coffee: Publishing Contract Monday, November 11, 2019 2:00-3:00 PM. Turkish American Friendship Room, 4004 Shapiro Library. Please join us for coffee and to learn about how to negotiate common terms in scholarly publishing agreements in a workshop facilitated by Yuanxiao Xu of the U-M Library Copyright Office. This workshop will focus on publishing contracts for journal articles. After a brief discussion of negotiation techniques, some fun negotiation exercises, and an overview of the law in this area, participants will have the option to negotiate a mock publishing contract.
  • ScholarSpace. ScholarSpace is a community-driven learning space built to support initiatives that bridge disciplines, build networks, and discover new contexts for scholarship. ScholarSpace offers consultation servicesworkshops, and course-integrated instruction on topics such as poster design, citation management, and dissertation creation.
  • University of Michigan Library Copyright Office. The library copyright office provides information to help you make decisions about sharing and using copyrighted material in your research, learning, and teaching. You can make an in-person appointment, attend a workshop, or email the office with your copyright questions. They also have copyright guides for many different topics such as dissertations and scholarly publishing, as well as templates related to licensing forms and syllabus statements.
