Graduate student conference in algebra, geometry, and topology

Matthew Stover, a professor at Temple and former UM post-doc, wrote to invite YOU to a conference in May. This is a good opportunity to practice speaking and meet some interesting people. They have funding! Matt’s message is below.

Dear friends and colleagues,

We are writing to advertise that registration is now open for our sixth annual Graduate student conference in algebra, geometry, and topology, which is May 30-31 at Temple.

This year’s plenary speakers will be

Moira Chas (Stony Brook University)
Linda Chen (Swarthmore College)
Shelly Harvey (Rice University)
Davi Maximo (University of Pennsylvania)

We have NSF funding to help cover travel and accommodation costs for US-based participants.

We hope you will encourage your students and others at your institution to register. Students who have attended the conference in the past have found to be a very valuable experience, in terms of both mathematical knowledge and networking opportunities.

We also hope that you will encourage your students and apply to give a talk. Talks can be expository, so students at all levels should apply to speak.

We are aiming for a very diverse conference, both in topics across algebra, geometry, and topology, and in the participants, and we hope you will particularly encourage students from under-represented groups to apply.

Very best,

Matthew and Dave
