All PhD and MLB Masters students in both Math and AIM are guaranteed funding for a period of time sufficient to complete their degree (provided they are making satisfactory progress towards their degree of course!). The main sources of funding are graduate student instructor positions (typically Math 105, 115, 116, 215 or 216) and research assistant positions for more advanced students. But students also win fellowships, find interesting GSI positions in other departments, and earn money in the summer by teaching or LSA advising, for example. Students can also apply for funding from Rackham to travel to conferences or special research opportunities.
