Alice Ewald – One of the more harrowing interviews we conducted. Alice as a young girl described the murder of a Black man during the 1943 riots on Grandy by her neighbors. She also provided some great photos and artifacts from the neighborhood. The original interview took place at the old Holy Cross Hospital in February 2003 and then a follow-up took place in April 2003 at the same location.
Pat Bosch – Pat Bosch grew up in the neighborhood and graduated from St. Stanislaus High School. She was the director of Nortown CDC and is now the director of We Care About Seven Mile and Van Dyke CDC. She arranged the interview that included Alice (Kozlowski) Ewald and Melanie (Goike) Dziordziewicz. The interviews took place in February 2003 at the old Holy Cross Hospital on East Outer Drive.
Melanie Dziordziewicz – Melanie is the granddaughter of the man who owned the Goike Kashubian Snuff store/factory on Grandy. The original interview took place at the old Holy Cross Hospital in February 2003 and then a follow-up took place in April 2003 at the same location.
