Bishop Shedrick Clark

Pastor of Clinton Street Greater Bethlehem Temple, located in the old Shaarey Zedek synagogue on Detroit’s west side. This African American mega-church had originally been located on Clinton Street in the Black Bottom and moved when the Black Bottom was cleared. The congregation purchased the Shaarey Zedek synagogue when the synagogue moved out to the Detroit suburbs. Bishop Clark was born on Clinton Street, was a congregant and was married at the original Clinton Street location. The interview was conducted in May 2014.
