Unfortunately, the system selectively serves those wealthy enough to command its benefits, while perversely creating hunger, chronic disease, environmental damage and suffering for others. Inherently, such a system is inequitable and unsustainable. It doesn’t have to be that way. There are practical alternatives. However, you need to care enough to bring about change in culture, business models and public policies. Citizen engagement will be required to attain a food system that exploits neither people nor nature.
