Dr. Cheol Lee is a Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. After his Ph.D. study in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, he led a research team to explore intelligent control systems at Saint-Gobain, a global materials company, before returning to academia in 2004. Dr. Lee’s research goal is to make fundamental advances in reduced-order modeling, estimation, control, and optimization techniques and explore their applications in developing cost-effective solutions for sustainable and eco-friendly industries. Since December 2023, Professor Lee has served as Lead PI of collaborative research, funded by a $1.2 million USDA-NIFA grant, on smart thermal processing of food.
