Ashley Gripper | “Lessons from the Planning Process for Growing from the Root: Philadelphia’s Urban Agriculture Plan”

February 21st, 2023 In this Food Literacy for All session, Ashley Gripper discussed “Lessons from the Planning Process for Growing from the Root: Philadelphia’s Urban Agriculture Plan.”

Dr. Grip has been a part of the team designing Philadelphia’s first Urban Agriculture Plan from 2019-2023. The design, development, and production of the plan was a collaborative effort between Soil Generation, a Black and brown-led grassroots group in Philly, and Interface Studio, a planning firm based in Philadelphia. The draft plan was released in Fall 2022 and the final plan is set to release some time in 2023. During this session, Dr. Grip shared some of her personal reflections from the planning process and doing collaborative policy and planning work with and within city agencies.
