February 7th, 2023 In this Food Literacy for All session, Vanessa Parish and Sunny Levine of The Queer Food Foundation discussed “The Intersections of Queer Food.” This discussion explored experiences that food work creates, how queerness is directly impacted in food spaces and how to support access through different channels.
Vanessa Parish is a founding Board Member of the Queer Food Foundation. The Queer Food Foundation’s mission is to promote, protect, fund, and create queer food spaces; to acknowledge, celebrate, and honor queer food workers and chefs. Vanessa currently resides in Los Angeles where she runs the private catering business and hosts the show “Tasting Our Roots.” Vanessa has been a featured chef for BET, Blavity, AirBNB, Google and Food Network platforms.
Sunny Levine is also a Board member of the Queer Food Foundation. She is a digital marketer, food journalist, and cook living in Baltimore, Maryland. Sunny has held positions across the food industry, ranging from nonprofit research to Fortune 500 innovation strategy. An advocate for food justice, Sunny is also interested in the intersection of food technology and sustainability.
