Dave Stevens died today, at the tender age of 52, due to an aggressive form of leukemia.

Stevens is most famous for creating The Rocketeer comic book and film character, and for his pin-up style “glamour art” illustrations, especially of model Bettie Page. I am most pleased to have this signed and dated portrait of Marilyn, done by Stevens at the height of his heyday while creating The Rocketeer (1982-89) and featuring a great deal of Page-inspired “good girl” and “cheesecake” art.
