Contexts for Classics (CFC) is an interdepartmental faculty initiative founded in 2000 that aims to rethink the discipline(s) of Classical Studies from various critical, historical, and pedagogical perspectives. Formally affiliated with the Institute for the Humanities at the University of Michigan since 2013, CFC sponsors several events annually and has partnerships both nationally as well as internationally. Organizations of this sort are rare, and CFC’s presence on the U-M campus is another testament to Michigan’s commitment to making the Greco-Roman world of the past an important part of how we perceive our present and future.  (For more information please visit: http://www.lsa.umich.edu/contextsforclassics)
