Designed and executed by Bill Barrett, “Kindred” is a statuary group that stands in front of the School of Social Work on the building’s west side. The work draws upon the mode of Cycladic statues from the very dawn of Western Civilization in the Aegean in order to make a statement (according to the sculptor) that all “art is communication between people.” It is one of three statuary groups on campus that are modeled upon the style of Cycladic figures, with Triad Ritual and Ternary Marker as the two other ones.
